About

Watson Mulkey

I'm Watson. For 10+ years as a Product Manager I've worked with companies like Bookshop.org, Sony, Whirlpool, and Discovery Education. The pattern I kept seeing: teams buy off-the-shelf software, then spend months bending their workflow to fit it. The tool was built for someone else's context.

Sometimes the fix is a custom tool. Sometimes it's teaching a team how to think about problems differently — setting up an SDLC, restructuring how work flows through the org, or just figuring out where the process is breaking for the people involved. When software is the answer, I build it with AI-native development workflows — but a decade of product experience is what makes sure it's the right thing, not just a fast thing.

The name FOIL comes from literary theory — a foil character exists to make the protagonist shine. That's what good tooling does: it amplifies your strengths without getting in the way.
